Infarm kicks off its US expansion plans that include five new Growing Centers with a total size of over 500 000 sqft, The new Infarm Growing Center is located near Austin, Texas with more than 73 000 sqft in size
Infarm, the rapidly growing urban farming company with a global and North American presence, is going to establish a second Growing Center in the US in Kyle, just 20 minutes outside of downtown Austin, Texas. This marks the first step in the company’s further expansion roadmap for the US: Infarm is planning for up to five additional locations across the US, increasing the total size of its growing facilities to over 500 000 sqft. The existing vertical farming facility is located in Seattle, Washington, and was opened in 2019.

Infarm’s new location will be equipped with several of Infarm’s modular large-scale farming units. They stand up to 33 ft tall and each of them only requires 430 sqft of ground space, producing the crop equivalent of land the size of a soccer field, using 95 % less water and 95% less land compared to traditional soil-based agriculture. To date as part of its worldwide operations, Infarm has saved more than 16 000 000 gallons of water and 600 000 square feet of land. Infarm has grown tremendously over the last couple of years and continues to do so. Currently present in 11 countries worldwide, Infarm plans to establish 100 growing locations in 20 countries by 2030. In the US and Canada, it has had long-term agreements with major retailers Kroger, Sobeys, Safeway, and Thrifty Foods since 2019 and 2020 respectively.
