Use EM as a biological foliar spray to increase growth and maintain the health in your plants. Research has demonstrated that applying nutrients through their leaves is a great way to increase micronutrients in plants to supplement deficiencies in the soil. EM can be applied the same way and mixed with plant nutrients for enhanced foliar fertilisation. The byproducts of the beneficial bacteria populations in EM include antioxidants, bioflavinoids, vitamins, and other micronutrients that support plant health and growth.

EM has shown that through its unique blend of microorganisms it can significantly increase the growth, yield and quality of plants. Read more at Influence of Foliar Application by EM “Effective Microorganisms”

Application

We usually recommend a 1% solution of EM Ready to Use with water. This can also be mixed in with liquid fertilisers and will further enhance the plants response.

When to Foliar Spray:

Foliar feeding is most effective in the evening or in the early dawn, when temperatures are mild and wind is minimal. Absorption is further enhanced when weather conditions are humid and moist. The presence of dew on the leaves facilitates foliar feeding. Absorption is improved when sprays also reach and coat the undersides of leaves where the majority of the plant’s stomata are located.

For Best Results:

  • Foliar feed once per week during the growing season.
  • Foliar feed in the evening.
  • During very wet periods, foliar feed one to three times per week.
  • A surfactant or whetting agent added to the solution decreases surface tension on the leaf and facilitates absorption.
