SOLLUM TECHNOLOGIES’ DYNAMIC LED LIGHTING SOLUTION SELECTED
BY SPECIALTY TOMATO PRODUCER LES SERRES POINT DU JOUR IN L’ASSOMPTION, QUÉBEC

Montréal, Québec, Canada, April 26, 2022 - Prioritizing quality and flavour, Robert Thérien agr. - CEO of Les Serres Point du Jour in L’Assomption, Québec, decided that Sollum Technologies’ leading dynamic LED grow light solution was the best technology for his new specialty tomato greenhouse.

Growing specialty tomatoes, a product offering consumers a burst of colour and flavour, requires precise care and attention to detail to ensure the best possible quality. Similarly, careful planning when getting a greenhouse up and running makes all the difference in the final product.

“All growers understand that making the right hardware choices from the start for their new greenhouses is key to success,” says Robert Thérien, “and while we carefully considered our options, we are confident that Sollum’s technology is the best solution to accomplish our goals.”

Sollum’s dynamic LED grow light solution outshines the competition when it comes to tailoring lighting solutions for specific crops with unmatched precision. “When it comes to tomatoes, consumers can easily tell the difference between a higher and a lower quality product because of the fruit’s depth of flavour. And this is especially true of speciality varieties like cherry tomatoes,” says Rose Séguin, agronomist at Sollum Technologies. “Clients like Les Serres Point du Jour choose our technology because they know that it can be fine-tuned to meet the highly specific lighting needs of their crop varieties, and this helps them maximize the quality of their product.”

As they start their new greenhouse journey, Les Serres Point du Jour will benefit from expert help from Sollum’s team of agronomists and technicians and from access to an unlimited number of light recipes to ensure they are set up perfectly for success.

About Les Serres Point du Jour
Les Serres Point du Jour is a 100,000-square-foot complex dedicated to the production of specialty tomatoes (cocktails, cherries and grapes), in which 2,000 square feet will be dedicated to research and development. The greenhouses will be equipped with artificial lighting enabling cultivation all year-round. The mission of Les Serres Point du Jour is to become the reference in greenhouse production in the Lanaudière region by offering products with a unique and unequalled freshness and a low ecological footprint, and grown using predatory insects instead of pesticides. The two shareholders of Les Serres Point du Jour, Robert Thérien, agr. and Jocelyn Magnan, eng., have a vast knowledge of the field of agricultural and will surround themselves with a diversified and experienced team. Production in their state-of-the-art facility will begin in August 2022 and will create about ten jobs.

About Sollum Technologies
Inspired by nature, Sollum Technologies was founded in 2015 to offer greenhouse growers the only smart LED lighting solution which dynamically recreates, perfects, and modulates the full spectrum of the Sun’s natural light. The company is based in Montréal (Québec, Canada), where its design, development, and manufacturing activities are concentrated. Sollum™ works closely with its clients and research centres to create recipes that are adapted to the growth cycle of each crop, regardless of its native climate or the location of the greenhouse. Its SUN as a Service® cloud platform enables multi-zone light management so growers can implement several different recipes simultaneously in the same greenhouse. The platform also automatically adapts the lighting of each zone to the ambient light to match recipe targets. Sollum’s award-winning lighting solution thereby provides unparalleled value in terms of energy savings, productivity, and superior produce quality through a flexible, adaptive, and easy-to-use application, with great respect for the environment.
