OneOp, formerly the Military Families Learning Network, is a virtual professional development platform for providers who serve military families.

The free online event will run from 10-11 a.m. Register at https://oneop.org/event/126288/. Once registered, participants will receive an email with instructions and a meeting link.

Email contact@oneop.org with questions or for technical support. Those unable to open or access the link may also view the event on YouTube Live.

About the webinar

The webinar presenter will be Elizabeth “Gizzy” Gray, Ph.D., a licensed clinical social worker, certified addictions counselor and credentialed advocate. She is also associate director of Policy and Legislation with the Defense Suicide Prevention Office.

“The risk factors for suicide and for intimate partner violence, IPV, are similar, and understanding how these factors impact the military community is vitally important,” said Rachel Brauner, AgriLife Extension program specialist, Bryan-College Station. “This webinar will explain the intersection of risk factors that can lead to intimate partner violence and suicide and look at prevention strategies for advocates and clinicians serving the military community.”

Brauner said during the webinar Gray will:

— Discuss how suicide and IPV risk factors intersect and are comparable.

— Look at ways to strengthen coordinated community response.

— Describe common suicide risk factors.

Continuing education

Free continuing education credits are available to family service professionals, including social workers, licensed professional counselors, licensed marriage and family therapists, case managers, board certified patient advocates, and certified family life educators. Refer to the OneOp website for additional information.

Certificates of attendance are available for providers interested in documenting their training activities.
