Two professional food manager certification trainings will be offered by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in October in Waco. The events are in collaboration with McLennan County and McLennan Community College Continuing Education.
The programs will be offered on Oct. 10 and Oct. 17 at the AgriLife Extension office in McLennan County, 4224 Cobbs Drive. They will both run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
The cost is $125, payable by check or money order, and includes training, materials and the ServSafe National Food Manager Certification Examination.
To register, contact Colleen Foleen, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent for McLennan County, at 254-757-5180. Participants should register as soon as possible as space is limited.
“Foodborne illnesses can be prevented by following simple food safety practices,” said Foleen. “This program is designed to not only prepare food service managers to pass the ServSafe exam but to leave with the education and understanding of what tools are needed for a safe work and food-handling environment.”
The certification is valid anywhere in the state of Texas for five years.
