Kuhn updates lightweight Megant drill

New tine coulters, an updated terminal and a half-width shut-off function are the highlights of Kuhn’s latest Megant drill.

The 6m-wide 602R is broadly similar to the outgoing 600 version, but the option of fitting an additional 110-litre SH 1120 hopper means it can also be used to apply starter fertiliser or drill two crops in the same pass.

It comes with the choice of three tine types, the newest of which is 12mm wide and carbide tipped to improve penetration and minimise soil movement.

Features inherited from the larger Espro drill include spring-loaded track eradicators and side markers that are better suited to dry conditions.

There is also a new 1,800-litre hopper that is welded, rather than riveted, and has internal steps to improve access to the distribution head. A shut-off door makes it possible to adjust the metering unit when the tank is full and helps prevent seed settling in the mechanism during transit.

Settings can be managed through the updated VT 20 control box, Kuhn’s CC1 800-1200 terminal, or an Isobus-compatible tractor screen.

Power requirement is north of 150hp, and prices start at £42,760.
