Last week we had the opportunity to visit a client in North Canterbury who have recently trialed the use of EM on one of their blocks alongside some other quality biological fertiliser. I took the below photo which shows the comparison of a paddock treated with EM compared with one on a conventional fertiliser system. It was clear after digging a few holes in each paddock that there was greater worm numbers (4-5x more), better soil structure, more fibrous roots and a improved soil smell in the EM treated block compared with the conventional block. The bottom comparison images also shows the huge difference in clover nodules. This shows the power of utilising biological products to enhance your farming system.
