Dubbed by Ford as the most advanced Ranger to date, the new Raptor has been developed by Ford Performance – the team responsible for the likes of the Ford GT supercar and the hot-hatch Focus ST.

The biggest update comes in the form of a beefy twin-turbo 3-litre EcoBoost V6 petrol engine, which replaces the 2-litre bi-turbo diesel engine seen in previous models.
This puts out 284hp and 491Nm of torque, which is a significant increase on the diesel’s 210hp.
A new anti-lag system keeps the turbochargers spinning for an additional three seconds after lifting off the accelerator, allowing the driver to pick up speed again after corners or tight bends.
Fans of the current 2-litre diesel needn’t despair, though, as this engine will still be available to spec in the new model from 2023.
Ford is keeping specific performance details under wraps for now.
But we do know that the new Raptor has a 10-speed automatic transmission with seven driving modes, as well an electronically controlled active exhaust system with four exhaust sound options to choose from.
It looks to have been inspired by the US-marketed F-150, with completely redesigned Fox suspension, big C-clamp headlights, larger flared wheel arches and broad Ford branding across the front grille.
The Raptor will be the first model from the new Ranger line-up to be available in Europe, with sales expected to begin in the summer.
