Supply chain disruption is continuing to affect tractor sales, with February’s registrations down 3.9% on the same month last year.

According to the latest figures published by the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA), 571 models larger than 50hp were registered in February 2022, a dip that follows a sharper fall in January.

The combination of those two downward trajectories and a total sales volume of 1,071 tractors means registrations for the year to date are 8.8% down on the first two months of 2021.

The AEA said these figures come amid delays to the delivery of machines to customers.

But the organisation also pointed out that historically the opening two months are a quiet time of year for registrations.

“We will get more of an idea of the underlying situation in March, which is usually the peak month,’’ it said.
