The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office of Travis County will conduct a Health, Food, Fashion and Photography Camp from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 17 at the Southeast Health and Wellness Center, 2901 Montopolis Drive, Austin.

The event is free and is designed for youth ages 6-19.
“While this is a 4-H-related program, attendees do not need to be 4-H members to participate,” said Sonia Coyle, AgriLife Extension agent for family and community health, Travis County.
Camp teaches basic skills
Coyle said the workshop was developed to teach young people the basics of nutrition, cooking and photography as well as to show them some of the basic skills associated with hand and machine sewing.
“We will also have crafting activities as part of the program,” Coyle said.
During the cooking portion of the event, chef Josh Mills will lead a knife workshop in which children will practice how to cut several fruits and vegetables. They also will make their own lunch using their newly learned skills for making pasta salad, pico de gallo, tostadas and fruit salad.
Space is limited to 50 participants and lunch will be provided, so attendees are encouraged to RSVP to Coyle at Sonia.Coyle@ag.tamu.edu as soon as possible. The deadline to RSVP is June 10.
